The journal catered to your work & NEEDS
Although other journals exist, this one is made specifically for educational leaders. The journaling system is made by someone who understands the work deeply and what it takes to thrive in your position. The quotes are geared toward liberatory approaches to education with a full resource list provided for your further growth and exploration (and to amplify the voices of teachers who helped me learn). The quotes also emphasize building collective efficacy and continuous improvement for equity, which were the focus of Erica’s doctoral dissertation. The daily pages are built to help you get and stay organized, while taking care of your “basics” to help you thrive sustainably in the long term. If you’re not moving, eating, sleeping, and drinking water, you’re guaranteeing burnout. Monthly and annual sections allow for a zoomed out analysis of how you’re doing. It’s about building a process that will support you over time not to ignore the larger systems that exist, but to help you navigate them. It’s also a tool to get you back on track with your basics after an upheaval. This work is a beast and a privilege, the unexpected will throw you, but The Principal Journal can help you catch yourself.

Developed through practice
This journal was made for principals, by a principal because other journaling systems were generic, with basic quotes from homogeneous authors, and not catered to the work of an educational leader.
At the confluence of research and practice

Experience
I have the experience to back up my claims that I can support your growth. The Principal Journal was developed by a leader for leaders. I understand the work because I’ve done the work. I’ve also studied and researched how to make this work better.

Research & Practice
The Principal Journal is based in research and practice. In order to develop collective efficacy and continuous improvement mindsets and processes, you need to be grounded in your own approach to leading and learning sustainably. Especially as principals turn toward understanding the importance of their own wellness, The Principal Journal is poised as a singular resource and a companion to coaching.
